The National Guild of Hypnotists has always been international in scope. Currently we have a presence in 65 countries around the world. The annual NGH Convention is an opportunity for American members to meet and network with hypnotists from all over the world, and learn and discover the latest techniques.

With 10,000 members in 65 countries around the world, the National Guild of Hypnotists could easily change their name from National to the more accurate: International. The National Guild of Hypnotists is the largest and oldest organization in the world for professional hypnotists. August 10, 11 and 12, when the Hypnotists Guild convenes in Marlborough, MA, they will be celebrating their twentieth annual NGH Convention and Educational Conference.

According to the Guild's International Affairs Officer, Dr. Shaun Brookhouse, of London, England, "The National Guild of Hypnotists has always been international in scope. Currently we have a presence in 65 countries around the world. The annual NGH Convention is an opportunity for American members to meet and network with hypnotists from all over the world, and learn and discover the latest techniques."

Dr. Brookhouse goes on to explain, "The International Hypnological Association was founded in 1953, and then in 1959, merged with our group, The National Guild of Hypnotists. You can clearly see how much the NGH has been international in outreach, almost from the day it was founded."

In the first four months of 2007 alone, international membership in The National Guild of Hypnotists increased by 330 members, representing the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Switzerland, Singapore, France, Malaysia, Kuwait, Japan, Italy, Ireland, Indonesia, India, Iceland, Hong Kong, Germany, England, Deutschland, Denmark, Cyprus, China, Canada and Belgium. Currently, there are NGH certified trainers in 44 US states and 27 countries. The National Guild of Hypnotists Core Curriculum had been translated from English into two dialects of Chinese, Danish, Dutch, French, Spanish, Japanese and Polish.

Each January, the National Guild of Hypnotists helps support World Hypnotism Day, founded by NGH member, Tom Nicoli, BCH, CI. Celebrated annually in the first week of January, World Hypnotism Day was established as a way to advance global awareness of hypnotism and its related professions. Every year, thousands of people worldwide participate at the same time in programs that share the expertise and truths of hypnotism, as part of World Hypnotism Day.

In addition to the extensive training, certifications and re-certifications the National Guild of Hypnotists provides its members and NGH Convention attendees, through their affiliation with the OPEIU/ AFL-CIO the Hypnotists Guild is a powerful lobbying arm for professional hypnotists and the integrity of the practice of hypnotism. Today's NGH membership includes therapists, counselors, coaches, nurses and a wide range of health care professionals. Fifty-six years ago, when the not-for-profit educational corporation was established in Boston, MA, the techniques of hypnotism were not as widely accepted in mainstream health care as they are today. Dr. Dwight Damon, president of the NGH, says, "Hypnosis is widely practiced by many different types of medical practitioners and our convention attendees will include licensed nurses, counselors, and a range of health care professionals who participate in the three days of workshops and seminars in order to earn board approved continuing education credits. The NGH Convention offers a special learning track established specifically to award CE/CNE credit for those in the fields of mental and behavioral health."

The 2007 NGH convention will be held at the Royal Plaza Hotel & Trade Center in Marlborough, MA. This is the twentieth consecutive year for the annual convention and educational conference. Attendees will be able to choose among 280 seminars and workshops offered during the three-day event, all of which meet NGH Continuing Education requirements.

The NGH Convention is open both to hypnotism professionals and to anyone with a sincere interest in learning more about hypnosis or careers in hypnotism and related fields that utilize hypnotism.
