Answer this: Are you at the top of your game? I’ll bet the teeth I need to chew a delicious steak that you’re not. And how do I know this? Because the greatest asset we all have for improvement and peak performance is ignored and dismissed. But those who know better and rise to the top sit back and watch the rest struggle their way to mediocrity. Ever wonder why? Read more

The 2007 NGH Convention Will Be Picture Perfect

Have you ever house-hunted online, or looked for a car (new or used) on the Internet? If so, you probably found that the first descriptions to catch your eye were the ones that included photographs.photographs. That’s logical; most people respond the same way.

We are a visual culture. We are, by and large, a visual cultural. We want “eye witness” coverage of events, videotaped from multiple angles. We want crisp high-res images, and the option to magnify them should we choose to do so. In short, we want to see precisely with whom or what we are dealing.

And so do your clients and customers. And so do your clients and customers.
If you don’t have your photograph on your website, on your book cover, and included in your marketing materials, you are missing an extremely valuable opportunity an extremely valuable opportunity to “personalize” your relationship with your clients and potential clients.

People feel more comfortable calling on you for your services, when they have already seen your face. You don’t have to be pretty or handsome and you don’t have to be the same age, gender, or race that your prospective client is, although sometimes having something in common with someone does help him or her make the decision to give his or her business to you.

People simply want to see your face. Seeing someone’s face has deep historic roots in most cultures, because the act of showing your face to someone is a way to establish that you are friend, not foe. Your photo, as part of your marketing credentials, communicates to the world that you are a professional and upfront businessperson.

Having a professional business photo is so important in career building; the National Guild of Hypnotists has sought a way to make it easy and economical for you to do.

This August, when we all meet in Marlborough, MA for the 2oth Annual National Guild of Hypnotists Convention and Smile and say, Educational Conference, you will have a picture perfect opportunitypicture perfect opportunity to get a professionally taken portrait photo.

Photographer Gene Paltrin of Dover, NH, will be onsite at the convention to offer business portraits at a reduced rate for NGH Convention attendees.

Photo sessions will be on a first-scheduled basis on Sunday, August 12, between the hours of 9 AM and 3 PM.
Two photo package options will be available. Option 1 will include the best image (as selected by the photographer) on a CD with slight image retouching as needed, priced at $50. Option 2 includes two 5×7 prints, as well as your CD, at a price of $65.

If the business photo you are currently using is out of date, or simply not your favorite, plan to take advantage of this excellent opportunity. And if you have been trying to market your services without a business portrait, make this your summer of change.

Are your gears jammed? One of the toughest challenges most sole practitioners face comes with creating the proper balance between the  time needed for marketing themselves and their services in order to attract future clients, and the time necessary to properly take care of  current   business and  clients. On top of this, many people add one more stressor to the mix as they try to carve out a space for themselves and their families without neglecting their hypnotism business or practice.

It’s easy to understand why so many people today, even practicing hypnotists, wind up feeling as if their gears are jammed with too much information and too many responsibilities.

The 2007 NGH Convention is designed to help you with all of these challenges and to make easier for you to practice what you preachpractice what you preach.

At this year’s NGH Convention and Educational Conference, you’ll have the opportunity to learn the newest techniques and strategies pertinent to your specialty. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn the timeless philosophies and age-old skills that have made hypnotism both a science and an art.Get in gear at the NGH Convention and Educational Conference

Most importantly, you’ll hear real world, in-the-trenches tactics for staying cutting-edge in a highly competitive marketplace.

You’ll find yourself running on all cylinders and benefiting from dynamic forward momentum toward your personal, financial, and career goals.

Don’t say you are too busy. Don’t let the pressures of everyday life and earning a living get in the way of the opportunity to grow, learn, connect, and reconnect in an atmosphere that is inspiring, enriching, genuinely exciting, and just plain fun.

And whatever you do—don’t come alone! don’t come alone! Spread the word to everyone you know who uses hypnotism in his or her work, or would like to learn more about the opportunities hypnotism affords.

Don't bet on luckIn 1971, when Clint Eastwood (aka Dirty Harry) leveled his famous .44 Magnum at the crook on the street and asked this question, it was a matter of life or death.

The President of the Massachusetts Senate, Robert E. Travaglini, has signed a citation from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, proclaiming August 5-11, 2007, as “National Guild of Hypnotists Week.”

The Official citation bears the seal of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Senate and states that it is being awarded, “in recognition of your dedication in advancing the art, science, and philosophy of hypnotism. The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has also extended their congratulations to NGH “in NGH Recognized by Legislatorsrecognition of fifty-six years of providing, an open forum for a free exchange of ideas concerning hypnotism and currently leading the movement for legislative and public recognition of hypnotism/hypnotherapy as a separate and distinct profession in the healing arts.”

And as we take the NGH Convention back to Marlborough for the third consecutive year, the City of Marlborough has officially proclaimed Saturday, August 11, 2007, as National Guild of Hypnotists Day. This proclamation, signed by Mayor Nancy E. Stevens, bears the official seal of the City.

Isn’t it nice that legislators and civic leaders recognize and appreciate what the National Guild of Hypnotists stands for and has accomplished over these many years?

What is The Bridge to Excellence?

Will you be on the Bridge to Excellence?

You may already know that the theme for this year’s NGH Convention and Educational Conference is: The Bridge to Excellence.

Have you thought about what this really means? Why are we comparing the 2007 NGH Convention to a bridge? And if it is a bridge, how does this bridge relate to you and your practice as a professional hypnotist?

Start by thinking about the functions of a bridge:

· A bridge helps you span an obstacle,   regardless of whether  that obstacle is a river, a canyon, or any other type of impediment that might hinder or block your ability to move toward your goal.
· A bridge is strong. You must be able to cross a bridge safely, confident that it will support your weight, even if you are overloaded with burdens.
· A bridge allows a flow of movement in two directions. You can cross it, secure in the knowledge that you are not headed down a one-way path, and that you will be able to move freely between your starting point and your destination.

The NGH Convention is your Bridge to Excellence, and it is built on the  power of learning.

Each letter in the word “L-E-A-R-N” represents one of the pillars that supports the NGH Bridge to Excellence.

From the President of the National Guild of Hypnotists

Dear NGH Professional,

I am very excited about the upcoming NGH Convention, scheduled for August 10, 11 and 12, at the Royal Plaza Hotel & Trade Center in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

I think platinum is a perfect word to describe the National Guild of Hypnotist’s 20th Annual Convention and Educational Conference. After all, platinum is extremely valuable—more precious than gold. In today’s world, platinum is often used to represent the highest standard, and the 280 seminars and workshops offered during the NGH convention certainly set the benchmark at platinum. Valuable, enduring knowledge, that informs, inspires and educates; there simply isn’t any other event in the world of hypnotism like the NGH Convention.

For the past decades, the NGH has helped make it easier for hypnotism professionals to share their valuable skills and services with others. The world needs the talents and training you have to offer, and the world of professional hypnotism needs the National Guild. Like I have done in the past, I am calling on all of our members to invite a friend or colleague to attend the NGH convention. Help us get the word out to the world, that this is the largest, oldest, friendliest and absolutely best hypnotism convention on earth.

See you at the convention,

Dr. Dwight F. Damon, FNGH, President
